The Football League was suspended after 3 games 1939-40. These three matches were later expunged from official records. He played all three of these games and also in The Football League Jubilee Trust Fund game against WBA and the Harry Hibbs Testimonial Match against Birmingham.
During the 1939-40 season he also played for Villa in a Six-a-side contest at St Andrew's (on May 11th, 1940).
Massie also played with Villa during World War 2. (139 - 8 goals)
He also guested for Birmingham, Nottingham Forest, Solihull Town, Notts County and Heart of Midlothian during World War 2.
